There isn’t an age limit to move your body – and your brain! The City of Oakland Park has a thriving Active Adults program designed to keep these young-at-heart souls moving. Serving the city’s 55-and-up population, this initiative offers a variety of programs to help older Oakland Park residents make new friends and stay active.
In early June, the city welcomed Active Adult participants to the program’s new home at the North Andrews Gardens Community Center.
Affordable and Inclusive Membership
Annual participation in the Active Adults program is both affordable and inclusive, ensuring that financial constraints are not a barrier to engagement and activity. With a fee of $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents, renewable each October, this program offers great value. The membership fee encompasses all costs associated with the regular activities and events within the program, excluding only field trips and special luncheons.
This structure makes the Active Adults program an accessible option for everyone, regardless of their economic situation. Participants can enjoy a wide range of activities and social opportunities. The program is designed to foster a sense of community and belonging, encouraging older adults to stay physically active, mentally engaged, and socially connected.
