Better Body Spa opened in 2014 thanks to the passion and vision of Evelyn Chan, the owner. Her journey into the wellness industry began when she acquired her LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) license in 2011. Evelyn initially worked at another spa, but it was a fateful conversation with a client that changed the course of her life. This particular client, after numerous visits, asked her a simple yet profound question: “What are you going to do for the rest of your life?”
The client’s question ignited a spark within Evelyn. She recalls this moment as if it were a sign from the universe that it was time to take charge of her destiny. While the spa wasn’t created overnight, Evelyn says she quickly had a name for the business and knew what she wanted her spa to be like. She eventually found the perfect location in Fort Lauderdale and knew that this was where her dream would become a reality. “Everything just fell into place,” Evelyn explains, recalling the process of opening her spa.

The line, called “Elixir of Life,” is handcrafted by Sherine Bichara, owner of Elixir of Life L’Alchimiste in Pompano Beach. The skincare line incorporates unique elements like the Baobab tree.
Not only do these ingredients provide the most benefit to the skin, but they also support local female-owned businesses–something Evelyn is passionate about. She explains, “It’s good to support local businesses. She is a woman and local like me who started small by herself, so it’s nice to support one another. Her products are great, and natural is always better.”

Evelyn’s background as a Brazilian of Chinese descent has significantly influenced the spa’s approach to wellness and customer care. Growing up in Brazil, she inherited a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to delivering the best service possible. The combination of Brazilian warmth and Chinese diligence is reflected in the spa’s dedication to making each client feel pampered.
Evelyn’s mother is also a massage therapist and entrepreneur in Brazil, which helped set her on the same path. Her family’s commitment to health and wellness is something you can truly feel in Better Body Spa’s atmosphere, where clients are treated just like family.
“We are a small team and our therapists have been together since the beginning. Our clients become like family, too,” Evelyn explains.
