Oakland Park City Hall Set on Fire

On Saturday January 23 just after 7:00 pm BSO and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to a call of a fire at City Hall in Oakland Park.  The fire occurred outside the entryway doors.

Resident, Chantelle Iacone, who had just left the Butcher’s Barrel when it happened commented in the Living In Oakland Park Facebook group that “The front entrance was on fire. It looked like a deliberate act. The floor mat was on fire which caused the one pillar to catch as well“. When Living In Oakland Park spoke with Iacone she shared that “The BSO and OP fire response was impeccable. They were there as soon soon as I hung up with 911“.

According to the preliminary investigation, the fire began in a plastic box attached to building after the the suspect placed a lit piece of paper in the box.

The box melted as a result and damaged the area around it at the entrance of the building.

Pat to the Rescue

Patrick Little, the owner of the Butcher’s Barrel grabbed a fire extinguisher and put the fire out before it could do more damage. “Thank goodness for Butcher Barrel’s quick response” Iacone states. It is clear the damage could have been much worse had Little not gone over there to put out the fire before Fire Rescue arrived.
