Police Seeking Driver of Hit and Run in Oakland Park

Just last week BSO reported that a 2 year old child had been the victim of a hit and run in Oakland Park. The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11. BSO Oakland Park deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene of the incident at Northwest 43rd Street and Northwest Fifth Avenue. OPFR located the victim of the hit and run, a 2-year-old child. They subsequently transported the child to a nearby hospital with not life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance Video Shows the Driver

The video that BSO released just this afternoon shows the driver of the burgundy colored SUV pulling into a parking lot approximately a half mile from the scene of the hit-and-run.

The driver appears to be a female. The video shows her exiting a burgundy 2018-2022 Ford Edge. She then walks around and checks the front passenger side of the car. After the visual inspection, she gets back in the car and drives off.

BSO Asks for the Public's Help to Apprehend the Driver

Anyone who may know the driver or with information on the vehicle’s location is urged to contact Oakland Park Det. Shelby Campbell at 954-202-3131, or to submit a tip through the SaferWatch App. To remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), or online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
