On May 6, 2022 Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, signed into law House Bill 7071, the largest tax relief package in Florida history.
An important part of the package includes the 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. This seasonal break provides Floridians with a tax-free window to buy qualifying disaster supplies without having to pay one cent of taxes on them.
During this, now 14-day, tax-free holiday, Floridians should save close to $25.6 million on indispensable disaster preparedness supplies. This savings is more than double compared to the previous year’s 10-day tax holiday, which estimates indicate saved Floridians a mere $10.5 million.
Getting Ready for Hurricane Season
The 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins Saturday, May 28 and lasts until Friday, June 10. Eligible items include:

• Batteries and weather radios costing $50 or less;
• Coolers costing $60 or less;
• Tarps costing $100 or less; and
