This morning at approximately 10:15 a.m. a call came into Broward Regional Communications reporting a collision between a train and a pedestrian.  The incident occurred at Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park. BSO and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the site of the crash. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.

BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit investigators continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.

Single train track

Less than a year ago in October a pedestrian was killed on the tracks on Oakland Park Boulevard and I95. Less than a year before the death of that pedestrian, a driver trying to beat the train was hit by the Brightline in downtown Oakland Park, ultimately killing him.

Residents are urged to take precautions at train crossings by following these safety tips.
