Soon Oakland Park residents will have another option to choose from. Sprouts will be located at the former Kmart site at 700 E Oakland Park Boulevard. Sprouts announced on its Facebook page that the Oakland Park store will be opening Friday, January 14th at 7:00 AM
Sprouts prides itself on bringing customers organic and natural foods with an indoor farmer’s market environment. They advertise fresh produce, flowers and bakery items as their highlighted items.
It all began in 1943 by a man named Henry Boney, who started a fresh produce stand in San Diego, California. Boney wanted to bring fresh, natural produce to his community. It would be his son and grandson who expanded and opened the first Sprouts in Arizona. They would then expand over the years to the southeast. In 2017, the first Sprouts made it to Florida.
Overall, Oakland Park residents seem to be excited for the new store. Many are glad that the vacant spot will now be occupied. “It’s a great store, they have one in Deerfield!”, Living in Oakland Park Facebook group member, Patricia Hishom-Hall posted. “Love Sprouts! It will be a great addition to the neighborhood”, Andy Rogow commented on the same post.
Some members were concerned with high prices. Sprouts has an app and reward system, which claims to save shoppers up to $100.00 a month. Be sure to download the app. The Oakland Park location, however, is not yet showing. With the grand opening right around the corner, it should not be very long before they add the Oakland Park location to the app.
In the meantime, you can view their weekly ads. Happy Shopping!
