Shooting at Northridge Shopping Center in Oakland Park Leaves One Man Wounded

At approximately 7pm on Tuesday September 7th, Chris Landers, who was eating at Tijuana Flats in the Northridge Shopping Center posted in the Living In Oakland Park Facebook Group that there had been a shooting at the bank at Commercial Blvd. and Dixie Highway at the Northridge Shopping center. 

Kristin Nowicki, another member of the group, confirmed the incident,  sharing that she heard about it on the Ring app. A neighbor had heard about it on the Police Scanner.  

We subsequently contacted BSO Media Relations for details about the shooting. 

Shooting in Oakland Park

BSO Media Relations responded quickly to our request for information sharing that Broward Regional Communications received a call at approximately 6:41 p.m.  regarding a shooting in Oakland Park. The caller said the incident occurred at the 900 block of East Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park, otherwise known to local residents as the Northridge Shopping Center. 

When BSO deputies arrived at the scene they found a man who had been shot.  Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported the shooting victim to a local hospital where he is being treated for his wounds.

No further information about the victim of this shooting or his condition has been released at this point. 

BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit investigators are investigating the circumstances that led to shooting.
