BSO Unearths Human Remains Near Eastside Village in Oakland Park

It has been in the headlines for several days now, BSO along with the FBI and Navy investigators have been digging behind Eastside Village townhomes in Downtown Oakland Park. Today, after extensive digging the joint task force unearthed human remains.

Investigators were digging behind the separation wall on the far east end of Eastside village in downtown Oakland Park.

Investigators are waiting for positive identification and an autopsy in order to learn the deceased’s identity and their manner of death. In the meantime investigators are now seeking the public’s help to identify the remains or for any information regarding the crime which they believe occurred around 2014 – 2015 when the surrounding area was not yet developed.

Last December a body was recovered from a canal in west Oakland Park but there was no FBI or federal investigators on the scene. Given the intensity of this search it would appear that the discovery of these remains is related to something beyond Oakland Park.

Anyone with information that may be related to the crime or that may help in determining the identity of the deceased person should contact BSO Homicide Detective Andrew Gianino at 954-321-4376. If anyone with information wishes to remains anonymous, they can contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
