NYC Stylist Launches Mobile Salon Services in South Florida

2020 brought many changes to the way several of us do business. Most companies have created new business models to adapt to the needs of their clients. For instance, we’ve seen mobile pet grooming and mobile car detailing in place of going to a pet groomer or a car wash. Many restaurants started offering curbside pickup to their patrons and ride-share services ramped up their couriers to offer options like contactless delivery to their clients. So, it’s no wonder that when the pandemic hit other service-based industries like beauty salons, they adapted to the new norms too.

A Dream Made Into a Reality

Ashley Taylor’s mobile salon is the fruition of business owner, Kim Corino, who has owned a regular salon in New York for about 25 years. Ms. Corino has always dreamt of opening a mobile salon, so once her two daughters were older they assisted her in making her dream a reality, which launched three years ago.

Their New York salon had closed due to the pandemic, but thankfully it is now open despite taking a hit from the shutdown. Once reopened, many patrons were wary of coming into a salon to get serviced, the mobile salon helped bridge the gap with these clients. “When the salon in New York closed down for quite a bit, before we moved down here with the bus we did service some clients from the salon on it but now our salon is open again but we definitely did take a big hit. Some clients are still nervous to come in” recounted Brooke.

Beauty... On Wheels!

Ashley Taylor’s mobile salon is truly a beauty parlor on wheels. They are one of the first and few businesses that offer this type of service to their clientele. They’re happy to bring this option to their clients because as they shared with us “Some people don’t feel comfortable going to a salon, so we can bring the salon to them”.
All services can be done in the vehicle and the stylists offer the same services as a full-service salon which includes all color and highlighting services, cuts, and blowouts, extensions, up-dos, wigs, straightening and perms, facial waxing, etc. The vehicle is fully stocked with styling tools like clips, capes, towels, shampoo & conditioner, treatments, hot tools, scissors, and all chemicals and colors needed, etc. They offer men’s and women’s services and have referral incentives for clients that refer others to the salon.
Currently, the business operates with one vehicle and three rotating stylists out of Fort Lauderdale and services a 15-mile radius, intending to eventually service more of South Florida as the business demands grow. We’re told that the future goals of the business are to “expand its services to broader clienteles such as bridal parties, kid’s parties and even nursing homes for people who cannot get to the salon or want a more special experience”.
If you’re interested in booking a salon service from one of Ashley Taylor’s stylists you can contact them at (718) 982-8980. Check out their page on Instagram: @ashleytaylorshairsalon. Check out their price list and be advised that they do have a service minimum of $100 to travel to the client.
