Crime Rampage In Oakland Park
On January 17, 2021, shortly after 7pm, 28 year old Antonino Santo Romano violently attacked Oakland Park resident Maria Ouveryney and stole her car and personal belongings. Romano beat Ouveryney so violently that he broker her jaw and sent her to the hospital. Ouveryney is still hospitalized and is unable to speak and has trouble walking. The extent of the damage to Ouveryney’s well-being has yet to be fully determined.
But on what appears to have been a crime rampage perpetrated by Romano on January 17th, Ouveryney was lucky. Sixty year old Iliane Alzenord, who was found dead in her home, that same day, was not so lucky.
Connecting The Suspect to the Murder
A preliminary investigation by BSO revealed that a car found at the scene of Ouveryney’s carjacking was Alzenord’s vehicle. Using investigative technology detectives identified Romano as the suspect in Alzenord’s murder.
Romano had already been apprehended in St. Lucie County and was slated to be moved between Counties when BSO issued a warrant for his arrest for Alzenord’s murder.
Romano is Charged
For Ouveryney’s carjacking and beating Romano faced 2 charges : carjacking without a firearm and attempted murder. With Alzenord’s homicide Romano faces a first degree murder charge for committing a murder while engaged in a felony offense.
Romano Remains In Custody
Romano is currently in custody at the Broward County Main Jail. He must post a $20,000 bond in order to be released.
