Angela Sebastianelli Rush was born at Holy Cross Hospital and has lived in Oakland Park her entire life. Angela is an only child and while she was growing up she was often alone. ” I absolutely loved spending time at the Oakland Park Library”  she recounts. There she found solace in reading and drawing.  Drawing became her passion and as she grew up she continued to find comfort in art.

Angela attended Northeast High School like her mom before her and her daughter after her. “High school just wasn’t for me, but it did give me time to draw in class!”. Angela decided to get her GED and begin working full-time. The decision changed her life forever.

While working in a restaurant she met “a handsome guy”, her husband Jon, and has been married to him for 17 years. They have three beautiful children and are raising them right here in Oakland Park.

Straying Away From Art

Art has always been an escape for me, but eventually, I just didn’t have time for art anymore“. Angela was working full-time, raising her family and somewhere along the way her art fell by the wayside.  But her desire to be an artist was always in the back of her mind.

She worked in the medical field for  years but did not feel fulfilled. She wanted to help people but realized that the medical field wasn’t about helping people anymore. Disappointed, she decided to walk away from it all and find her way back to her art.

Finding Her Way Back to Art

I decided to take a leap and jump all in“. She opened her studio and since then has been experimenting and exploring different art mediums and art styles.  Completely fulfilled, Angela relates “I am happy to get up and do what I do every day”.

What she most enjoys is creating with others and sharing her love of art. Angela holds art classes and parties at her studio and her clients love it as much as she does.

"To experience watching someone create a piece of art that makes them proud is an amazing thing! I can't think of anything better. I keep my prices affordable and offer a very casual & comfortable environment for everyone to explore their creative side"
At the Boots & Brushes Social lady veterans explored their creative side with Angela's guidance.
