Welcome to the first edition of Living In Oakland Park’s Adorable Adoptable Pet of the Month. Each month we will feature a beautiful an adorable and adoptable pet looking for a loving home.
There are so many wonderful animals in shelters that need a great home and so many wonderful people that need a great pet by their side, our hope is that through this column we can help make a perfect match each month. So enjoy our first edition and please share each month so we can help find these adorable adoptables a perfect home.

Meet sweet Athena the most lovable female lab mix looking for her forever home. Beautiful Athena is approximately one year of age and about 40 pounds of pure joy. Doris of United Dog Rescue describes her as a “total love bug who just wants to love and be loved”.
This beauty is available for adoption at Oakland Park’s very own United Dog Rescue located at 331 East Commercial Boulevard. You can contact Doris to Inquire about Athena or any of their other available pups by calling (954) 371-0046, or stopping by the shelter. All of United’s adoptions include vaccinations as well as spay or neutering.
United Dog Rescue’s mission is to rescue stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs and to place them in loving and qualified homes.
Based in Oakland Park, United Dog Rescue is an accredited 501 (c) (3) not-for profit organization which relies solely on fundraisers, donations and adoption fees to continue their amazing work.
The Communities help is always welcome, either by way of monetary and/or tangible donations or volunteers, because #TogetherWeAreOP.
Tami Wray was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and grew up in the Northwest area of Indiana on the beautiful Lake Michigan. Mrs. Wray relocated to Wilton Manors in 1988 with her mother and now considers Oakland Park her permanent home.
Along with raising two beautiful daughters and one step-daughter, she has spent her entire career working in the real estate field as a property manager, real estate paralegal and insurance professional.
One of her greatest passions is the rescuing of abused and homeless animals and promoting the need for spaying and neutering pets and adoptions of senior pets.
Mrs. Wray currently resides in Oakland Park with her husband Chris, two daughters and her rescue pets; four dogs, two cats and a ferret. Life is never boring!
