Fat Tap Beer Bar & Gulfstream Insurance Host Their First Outdoor Market

After a harrowing 2020 with residents in lock down and our small businesses suffering, who is ready to bring support to our community in a safe outside environment? One where we can reconnect with our neighbors all the while support our local small businesses. Fat Tap Beer Bar and Brewery in Oakland Park in collaboration with Gulfstream Insurance Group is hosting the Fat Tap Market on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 12pm-4pm.

Fat Tap, with their sizeable parking lot, will be hosting twenty five vendors from our local community which will include United Dog Rescue (bringing some of the most adorable furry friends looking for their furever home) as well as vendors with animal products, food and crafts. We will also have a DJ providing musical entertainment as well as an animal themed photo both by BoothSTAR.

An Idea is Born

About a month back I had seen a Fat Tap event advertised on Facebook and said to my husband that we needed to check this place out. As a girl who rarely goes West of I-95 and prefers the confines of my little neighborhood, I am always willing to find a great new local place. We decided to try their Sunday Brunch (where I had the most delicious Avocado toast and unlimited mimosas), and while enjoying my meal on the outside patio I was looking out onto their vast parking lot and I thought “Wow this would be a great place for an event”.

The following Monday I contacted the owner of Fat Tap with my idea and he referred me to Chok Guerrero, his marketing manager, and the rest is history. Once we started planning the event, we really received a lot of positive feedback and immediate commitments from vendors ready to get back out there.

I spoke with Chok Guerrero of Alternative Marketing Group, the company that handles the marketing for Fat Tap as well as other local businesses and he reiterated how much the community needs this. Chok explained “We were literally selling cans from the front door during 2020 and we don’t have corporate backing. We were lucky to have survived”.

Unfortunately, not everyone was so lucky. Chok is hoping this market will be a success for Oakland Park and that this can become a monthly event.

Helping Our Local Pet Rescue

There were numerous victims of 2020 including charities and not-for-profit organizations who rely solely on donations, fundraising events and volunteers to exist. With people unemployed and feeling anxious about the future, groups like United Dog Rescue suffered greatly. This is why we asked UDR to participate in our maiden Fat Tap Market and we hope to help other local animal organizations with future events.

Come Out and Support Our Great Community!

Fat Tap Beer Bar and Brewery is located at 830 E. Oakland Park Blvd, Oakland Park Florida, FL 33334. Please spread the word and join us in supporting our community while enjoying some music, adorable furry friends, crafts, delicious food and the largest selection of crafts beer in Broward. This is a pet friendly event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone in a safe manner.
