Local Businesses Reopen with Safety Measures

Oakland Park businesses have been given the green light to begin reopening for services. Some residents are sighing in relief and looking forward to eating meals away from their dining room table. Others are worried about risks associated with these indulgences. We checked in with local businesses to understand what changes and protections have been put in place in order to allow customers to patronize their locations safely.

Dine-In Services

If a night of perfectly prepared seafood served to you by friendly faces sounds like heaven, a visit to Catfish Deweys on Andrews Avenue may be in order. CDC guidelines are being followed by keeping tables appropriately separated and an outdoor tent has been installed in order to safely accommodate patrons. Areas are being sanitized in between seatings.

Tequila Sunrise Mexican Grill on Dixie Highway is also being diligent about following all CDC guidelines and advising the staff to sanitize the dining room and restrooms routinely. They are opening for their standard business hours and awaiting your arrival, possibly with a margarita in hand. Their uniform manufacturer created custom Tequila Sunrise branded masks to ensure all staff are equipped to serve you safely.

Health Services

During quarantine, appointments were canceled and regularly scheduled maintenance on most things fell to the wayside. If this just so happens to include your child’s dental checkup, Cosmic Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is available to help. Dr. Berlin walked me through the steps they have taken in order to ensure your child’s health and safety is the top priority during these new times.

The staff are continuing to sanitize in between patients, using PPE and running an air purification system as they did prior to COVID19 regulations. Appointment times are more spaced out to lessen the occupancy of the facility but the office is now open on weekends in order to see more patients. They ask that only one parent attend the appointment with their child wearing a proper face covering.

Entertainment

If your family is looking for a break in the monotony, ProjectROCK has been working hard in preparation for their reopening intended for next week. Staff will be wearing masks and encouraging patrons to do the same. The building will be limited to 50 people at a time with climbing routes sectioned off to maintain 6 feet of distance between climbers. Equipment will be sanitized in between climbs.

The next coming weeks will be a time of readjusting to the newest guidelines and safety measures for local business owners and customers alike. We look forward to Oakland Park’s revival and being able to, once again, reunite in-person as a community.
