This Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day.  While it is on a Sunday, there will be no shortage of festivities the entire weekend in and around Oakland Park. Here are a few events I was able to rustle up for this weekend. Feel free to add any additional events to the comments section or in the Living in Oakland Park Facebook Group.

Finnegan's Wake at Big Dog Station in Downtown Oakland Park

Big Dog Station in Oakland Park is kicking off St. Patty’s Day festivities with a wake, yes a wake. Promptly at 6:00pm on Saturday March 16th, a hearse will arrive with poor ol’ Finnegan and his motley crew of mourners. Their arrival signals the beginning of this unforgettably hilarious Irish funeral and parade. Described as something “you have to experience”, Finnegan’s Wake brings a whole new twist to celebrating St. Patty’s Day.

Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival

Enjoy the sounds of several pipe bands as they parade down Las Olas Boulevard.

Enjoy bagpipes, high school bands, Irish dancers, live music, food and more in Fort Lauderdale’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16th. The parade starts at 9am and the fun continues until 11p. This is a free event and gets crowded very quickly so get there early to secure your seat along the parade route.
